First International FlowRider® Competition for Canada at Maeva Surf

It’s now official! Maeva Surf is proud to announce that it will be hosting the first international flowboarding competition in Canada May 19th, 2012 on the FlowRider® Double sheet wave attraction. The 2012 FLOW Tour is organized by Wave Loch and sanctioned by FLOW (Flowboarding League Of the World), and they chose Maeva Surf for it’s quality installations and the incredible welcome Quebec gave to the sport of flowboarding.

Competition Format:
Maeva Surf will also be the testing grounds for a new scoring system. Pro categories will be judged in a “jam session, best run” which will push the sport to a new level by allowing each competitor more runs, and being scored on the best one (this format is also found in many skateboard competitions). “Competitors will need to go outside of their comfort zone and augment the difficulty of the tricks performed, which will create an even bigger show” says Patricia Dupuy, co-founder and CEO of Maeva Surf.
The Event:
The competition will take place on May 19th, 2012. A practice session will be organized on Friday night for all competitors. There will be up to eight (8) divisions and the official judges will be representatives of Wave Loch from California. More than $3,000 cash will be up for grabs, as well as over $1,500 in products. ‘‘We will be the second Pro/Am stop of the 2012 circuit, and we want all the competitors to talk about Maeva Surf for the rest of the season. Our goal is to create a FLOW Tour stop the competitiors won’t want to miss year after year,” says Patricia. Thank you to all of our sponsors for their generous support in this event.
