WHY SURFING?  WHY NOT CHESS?

According to CNN, the Tokyo Olympics committee said it’s looking for events that will “serve as a driving force to promote the Olympic Movement and its values, with a focus on youth appeal.”

And the Christian Science Monitor says that surfing is an ideal fit for the younger demographic the Olympic committee is wooing, and “….the decision is likely to be heavily weighted toward the sport that has the largest market appeal to big international sponsors – giving the surfing the advantage” (emphasis added).
